Terry Williams
Before his hospitalization, Terry Williams enjoyed staying active and spending time doing the things he loved, including attending concerts, thrift store shopping, and photography.
After experiencing multiple heart attacks, Terry underwent coronary artery bypass grafting and aortic valve replacement surgery. At first, his recovery appeared to be progressing well. He was walking, gaining strength, and looking forward to returning home.
Then, his recovery took an unexpected turn. Terry went into cardiac arrest and required CPR. His medical team discovered serious complications that led to a lengthy and complex hospitalization. During that time, he developed kidney failure requiring dialysis, experienced small strokes caused by reduced blood flow, and developed respiratory failure that required ventilator support to help him breathe.
After nearly a month of intensive medical care, Terry was referred to Vibra Hospital of Fargo, a critical care hospital specializing in complex recovery.
When he arrived, Terry was weak and deconditioned. Although he was able to stand and take a few steps with therapy, rebuilding confidence after everything he had experienced would take time.

With patience and support from his therapists, nurses, and interdisciplinary care team, Terry began making steady progress. As his strength returned, so did his confidence.
Terry rebuilt his endurance and regained independence. His medical condition continued to improve, and he no longer needed dialysis or oxygen support. By the time he was discharged, he was walking 500 feet with a four-wheeled walker, completing six stairs, and independently managing his self-care.
Most importantly, Terry achieved his goal of returning home. He was discharged home with plans to continue building strength through outpatient therapy.
Reflecting on his recovery, Terry shared,
“It was a long, rough road. My thanks to all the medical team members who helped me through this journey. The Vibra staff have been great. Special thanks to my family and friends who came from far and wide to visit. I certainly know that I believe in miracles because this has been nothing short of that.”
