Carl Dregseth
Before his hospitalization, Carl Dregseth enjoyed an independent life. He lived with his sister, managed his daily activities independently, and spent time in the community attending senior meals, playing cards, and enjoying bingo outings.
But after experiencing a fall at home, Carl was brought to the emergency room with concerning symptoms, including confusion and tremors. He was diagnosed with sepsis caused by a urinary tract infection.
After receiving care in a traditional hospital, Carl was referred to Vibra Hospital of Fargo—a critical care hospital that specializes in treating medically complex patients who require extended hospitalization for recovery.
When he arrived, Carl was confused and extremely weak. He required assistance with daily tasks, was unable to take steps on his own, and needed a specialized diet due to his condition. Carl was also suffering from significant pressure injuries, which limited his ability to move comfortably.
At Vibra Hospital, Carl received coordinated care from a multidisciplinary team. He began working with physical, occupational, and speech therapy to rebuild his strength and independence, all while receiving expert medical support.
As his condition stabilized and his mental clarity returned, Carl made steady and meaningful progress.
By the time of his discharge to a skilled nursing facility, Carl had achieved remarkable milestones! He was walking 700 feet with a walker, climbing 13 stairs, and independently managing daily activities like dressing and bathing. He resumed a diet of regular foods, and his pressure wounds were completely healed.
Reflecting on his stay, Carl shared, “Everyone at Vibra has been really good to me. I have no complaints!”
Thank you, Carl, for your hard work and positive spirit. We’re proud to have been part of your journey and wish you continued success in your recovery!
