Brian with the Vibra Hospital team

Brian Anderson

Before facing health challenges, Brian Anderson led an active and fulfilling life. He spent his days riding his electric bike, cheering for Bison football, and creating wonderful memories with his grandchildren. As an employee at Forum Communication Printing, Brian found purpose in his work and valued his independence.

In August 2024, Brian was hospitalized due to enterococcal bacteremia and endocarditis, which necessitated an aortic valve replacement. Although the procedure went well and he was later discharged from the hospital, his recovery took an unexpected turn. A few weeks later, Brian woke up confused and had difficulty finding words. Doctors discovered that he had suffered a stroke and needed a craniotomy to relieve pressure in his brain.

After two weeks of life-saving care at a traditional hospital, Brian was transferred to Vibra Hospital of Fargo, a critical care hospital that specializes in treating patients with long-term and complex care needs. At the time of his admission, Brian’s condition was severe; he depended on tube feeding for nutrition, could not move his legs or left arm, and required full assistance with mobility and personal care.

With the support of Vibra’s dedicated medical, nursing, and therapy teams, Brian began to make progress. Initially, he could only occasionally follow simple commands, but gradually, he regained the ability to actively participate in his care and therapy. Over time, he achieved remarkable milestones. By the time of his discharge, Brian could walk 550 feet with a walker, independently propel his wheelchair, and perform self-care tasks like grooming and dressing. He was also able to return to a regular diet!

Reflecting on his experience at Vibra Hospital, Brian stated, “My progress was simply amazing.” He expressed gratitude for the care he received, noting, “The staff were always friendly.”

Upon discharge, Brian transitioned to inpatient rehabilitation to continue building his strength. His story is an inspiring reminder of the power of perseverance and expert care.

Thank you, Brian, for allowing us to be part of your recovery journey. We wish you continued strength and success!
